NewsCred Launches Publicly!

Written by shafqat

I’m very excited and proud to announce that we’ve finally launched NewsCred to the public! The launch went off without a hitch this morning, and we’ve opened our doors to let everybody in. Check it out at http://www.newscred.com! Its been a fun ride so far, and I know the team is excited to let NewsCred out into the wild.

In the last couple hours, we’ve already gotten some great coverage. Most notably, check out the TechCrunch post marking the start of our newest adventure here.

Finally, you can check out our Press Release on Yahoo News here.

  2. Just found your site, via TechCrunch, and have registered as a new use. I like the clean UI design of your site. The credibility ranking feature is something that I’ll need to consider. The benefit is directly relative to the person(s) doing the ranking, correct?

Thanks! It looks a great service, but a bit quite slow at the moment – is it hosting in Europe/Switzerland? or USA? – it might be that you had too much users yesterday with the press announcement.

I am more of a tech user; so what mostly interests me in newscred.com is the tech section.

I was curious how you planned the press announcement; I have not seen many startups gaining that much visibility as newscred yesterday had. BBC, Reuters, TechCruch, Mashable…etc ..etc all big names…

What I great job Shafqat you did….can you share with us how the marketing plan was rolled out. I guess it will be of most interest of all users that potentially have a startups ups to lunch…

Look forward to use your service…

Thanks for the support everyone! We’re excited to have so many new members of the NewsCred community.

@David The benefit is not just for the user. Everytime you vote, it adds to our dataset and also affects the credibility stats of the journalists and the sources where an article appears. We use all of this to present the highest quality news to others, but also to keep a track record for journalists and sources. So you are definitely increasing the utility of the site for everyone when you are rating.

@Joao – Thanks for the kind words. I’ll definitely be sharing the insider’s view of our launch and how we did our marketing. We didn’t pay a single cent on P.R. or marketing. Its just a bit of hard work and creativity. We were thrilled to have such great coverage!
