The last year has been a remarkable period in our company's history. We continued to grow at a furious pace -- adding new people and building new products that we believe will transform the marketing industry. With over 120 exceptional colleagues in three countries, we also grew revenue 4X, making us the largest player in the content marketing category.
We are building a category defining company, and to build a business of real consequence, you need the resources to swing hard. Today we're thrilled to announce that we've done that.
We've officially raised a $25M round of financing led by Doug Pepper at Interwest. Doug spent the last several years building expertise in the content marketing space. He's one of the smartest guys we've met. He has backed some of the biggest successes in tech, including Marketo and Spredfast, and to top it off, he's a real "salt of the earth" type guy.
With most of our cash from our Series B in the bank, we weren't planning on raising anytime soon.But the more time we spent with Doug, the more we realized that we wanted to work with him. In late November, Iraj, Asif, and I met Doug for dinner, and we left with only one thought: we need to go to battle with this guy.
Doug shares our vision for the type of company we are building. We believe that there will only be one winner in the category. And we also believe that the winner will provide marketers with both the end-to-end technology platform, as well as the content that they need to fuel all of their marketing channels. As I wrote in my blog post announcing the Content Marketing Cloud, we see a lot of fragmentation in this space, and a lot of smaller players trying to solve various pieces of the puzzle. With our marketing software, our original content network, and our licensed content offering, we are solving the entire puzzle.
For those counting, we've raised $40M in the last 9 months. Are we crazy? Maybe a little. As entrepreneurs and dreamers, we really do believe that the people who are crazy enough and committed enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who usually do.
